Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I find it MUCH easier to take good landscape/cityscape shots when not in my home town, i somewhat struggle with these shots in Lafayette, LA which is where im from. It's a pretty boring city for photography at least. I know GREAT shots can be captured here, but idk. I just find it much easier in places i'm not familiar with.

Can anyone relate to me?

Yes. I think it is just about human tendency to take fore-granted the things we see everyday. When we travel, we know we may not ever be back to that same place during the same time. It makes it interesting to us and we like to photograph things that interest us or that we think we may only have one opportunity to photograph.

We get complacent around the things we have seen hundreds of times...after all, why photograph it? We will see it again tomorrow...

Yea thats definitely true. Good point!

Anyone else have this same problem?

Nope. I revisit the same places again and again looking for compositions. You don't need something new, you need to open your mind and see!

Yea, how long have you been shooting for? If you don't mind me asking that is.

Maybe its because when you see a place or thing thats new, you also have a new clean perspective on it.

Dang! Your a quick learner aye?

I know what your saying though, a good composition/exposure can captured nearly anywhere, you just have to put the pieces of the puzzle together inside your viewfinder.

I understand what you mean, so basically you should be able to capture better compositions in places you have seen more than once. You just have to take a step back and find the hidden design in things.

I think some poeple just have a naturally more creative mind. Bitter Jeweler is an artist by trade, I think it carries over into his photography as well. I work in engineering, I don't think I see nearly the things Bitter does in his work. Who knows maybe that carries over into the kind of photography we like as well, I love sports/action photography where from what I see Bitter post is more landscape/artistic shots.

Sorry Bitter, I dont mean to make assumptions about what you like, I was just trying to show similarities in style and and you became my comparison.

Yea that makes sense. The things you have been passionate about all your life bleed into your photography, unconsciously. Thats just my opinion.

Yes, to MWG's last post. Take a step back, or forward, and look for more.Ryan, I think it goes a little deeper involving personality as well.I would think being an engineer, you would be one to really look for details...but yeah, art has pretty much been my life. In a way, I shoot what I know.I haven't had an opportunity, actually I missed some opportunities to shoot sports. I really want to, just for the experience. So like our conversation of your snowboard images, it's not my field, so I could only look a thevshots from my perspective. Which was fun for me to try to critique.

I think when I get around landscapes that are inspiring, I do get caught up actually looking at details! So much so that I dont take a photo, lol! As far as personality, I think in people photography, personality is most of the business. Your clients dont have that comfort level with you, if you don't have a likeable personality.

I don't really have the art background which I would love to have. I really should take some art history courses at the local college just to have that base to work from.
