Would be interested in others thoughts about TPF having a "live music and event photography" forum/sub forum?
I shoot mainly concert photography and would like to have a more specific forum.
Thanks,
George

Then we'd need a wedding subforum, a childrens' birthday subforum, a car show subforum, a motocross subforum, an air show subforum, a skateboarding subforum, a skiing subforum, a farmer's market subforum................

I am aware that many feel there are too many forums/sub forums. It is my two cents that with concert photography it is large enough for at least a sub forum on it own over the above mentioned.

What gives you the idea that concert photography is 'large enough' to warrant a subforum?

There are hundred's of thousands of concerts all over the world happening in 100,000 seat venues to 1,000 seat theaters and endless bars. As I said it is my two cents. I am not sure how many of them are on TPF. Here is an article on Why Concert Photography that addresses the number of concert photographers. I have been in it since 2010 and it gets harder everyday to obtain photo passes due to all the requests.

Gee. How many weddings take place every week? How many babies are born every day? How many air shows are there around the world every week? Farmer's markets?

Point is.... just because you are part of that culture may not justify a subforum here just for you.

I want a forum for 2wheel photo topics. and under that one subtopics for solo and another for models with 2wheel vehicles and a day or night sub forum under each of those.

Oh, and need this within a few minutes

It is a suggestion for a part of photography that could (IMO) be a sub forum. There would be more than just me. (If you read the link provided you would get a better feel for the genre) Your's is one opinion. Let's see what others say. I am sure you bang a bigger drum:)

I don't think you're getting it. I'm not saying we shouldn't have the subforum just for YOU. I'm saying we just can't have subforums for ALL THE SPECIALTY GENRES that exist for photographers.

How about news photographers? Do they deserve their own subforum? Wedding photographers could get a high member count as well. Myself, I like focus stacks and panoramics, but we don't have subforums for those, although I'm sure there's more than just ME that like them.

This is like a city near me. They tore out the tennis courts because the hand-ball crowd wanted hand-ball courts. Then the skateboarders complained they had nowhere in the city to legally skate, so the city tore out the hand-ball courts and installed a skateboard area. It wasn't too long before the basketball citizens voiced their desire for basketball courts. So out came the skate park and basketball hoops were installed. Now the tennis players a bitching.

Heck, half the time the entire photojournalism/live events/sports forum doesn't get much action as a whole as it is. I can post pictures on there and they'll be on the front page of that forum for like a month. If we had a music only subforum, you'd have posts from 6 months ago still on the front page.

I did not realize that photojournalism/live events/sports forum included "live events", which would be concerts. I have not even looked on the forum. Thank you for the clarification. I will visit the forum.
Maybe a group as opposed to a sub forum?

Thanks for your insights. I understood your point. Got it:)

Yeah, I classify concerts as events, and thus usually put music photography there. Though you see it in everywhere from the people gallery, to the general gallery, to the black and white gallery. Perhaps whatever gallery is deemed most appropriate for them, there can be some sort of specific mention, to sort of corral them more consistently into a single forum.

To OP. There is also a photo themes forum here where you could start a thread on any subject you like including concerts. You could try that and see how it goes
