It is well done (focus and lighting) but, personally, I don't find it interesting.

I see lots of very fine hairs. I think the shot was taken with low f-stop and the dof is short.

i've added a bit of sharpness and brought out the eye. and just brightened the horse a bit for some pop.

I'm confused. Your sig says critique and pointers welcome, then you seem perturbed that people did something other than "like or dislike" for this image. EDIT: Plus the title of the thread is "Thoughts?"

I like it but I agree with the above that the depth of field is too shallow and the whole thing could be a little brighter, either through general exposure or lightening shadows.

ive deleted my image edit since the OP is having and issue with opinions. however, i think he should uncheck image editing ok.

Marc, I like the shot but it seems just a bit flat, that may be my taste, but I have adjusted the white balance a bit on this one. might not seem like much but I think it helps it pop a little more.

If those are my only two options: hate it

If opinions are welcome: it's an uninteresting head shot of a beautiful horse. If it was my horse or I had some otherwise pre-existing connection to that particular horse, I might be more moved. On its own merits, it's not bad enough to hate, not good enough to like.
