Three Lochs

A view from the roadside in the Mull of Kintyre. Not sure about this pic and also unsure if I've overcooked this or not now.

First impressions: As a landscape, it is not too bad, but it looks dark - underexposed(?) - and almost monochromatic. Not sure if the monochrome nature is good or bad, but it does give it a certain character.

These landscape shots are difficult to get right when the clouds cast a spotty set of shadows on the land. I do like how the palette changes from warm colours in the foreground to blueish-grey towards the horizon. However, the shadows cast by the clouds, as on the hill on the left, plunges that part into at least 3-stops of darkness. Overall, I agree with Westernguy that the overall image looks underexposed (about 1 1/2 stops to my taste), but then you'd have the issue of blowing out the whites in the clouds. Perhaps a graduated ND filter could be used here, or you just have to wait around until the clouds arrange themselves into a pattern that leaves the foreground and midground areas lit. How's your cloud-moving ability like these days?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Interestingly enough we have a saying round here: "if you don't like the weather wait 10 minutes!" Unfortunatley though I did'nt have the time to wait as I was working, and only had time for a quick shot. I've tried to edit this a bit more by putting an ND filter on in lightroom and brining the background and the general exposure up a bit. Sorry for taking so long to reply back but for some reason the file wasn't uploading, finally managed to get it though!

Any better?

Thanks Mully, that looks a lot better. I'll have a play about when I get back from my latest island adventure to see if I can get an edit similar to yours! It appears my pp skills need worked on...
