I've looked at this image several times before responding. I think that placing the people in the center actually works for the image - it sets up the scene and seeing the swimming dog comes in during the frame scan (eye focuses first on the people in the middle, then goes exploring), which changes the perception of the image - almost like a delayed punch-line. As mishele said, nice catch.

Nice shot. Not sure of the crop either.
I think more than the crop, recovering some of the shadows helps the dog stand out more. The trail in the water draws the eye to it better.

I agree with recovering shadows a little. The dog looks a little bit like a r/c boat until you take a closer look. I really love this shot though!

I just feel like the dog plays a BIG PART on the photo but it is too close to the side and get kinda lost. Kinda like it better if it was wider on the left and the 2 people were closer to the right.

I thought dog lovers would like this. Ive never owned a dog so I can't relate as much.

Hmmm.. that would create a lot of visual weight to the right of the frame. I don't know if it would work. But ill post it so you can see.
