Took the Fiancé to check out the thunderbirds yesterday. Had an awesome day.

Note to self...
Remember to clean image sensor before shooting sky photo. WOW

Was cool to shoot them again, since thats where my photography quest started.

All for fun!

Amazing! Thank you!

I've got some good Thunderbirds two years ago at Scotts AFB. They are great. First weekend of May we went to the St. Louis Airshow with the Blue Angels headlining. It is the excitement and the adrenalin...and of course took some people shots.

What lens did you use here?

Im thinking of going to see the Blue Angels in June. I've always been a fan of them.

I used my 70-200 2.8 and I picked up a 2x converter. Worked amazingly!!!

The first day of the airshow here at St. Louis I took my 300mm. We were situated right in the middle of the audience area because the tickets to the "privileged" areas were already taken. Most of my shots were not really all that good. My legs are just too short to see what was happening near the ground. So on the last and second day, we came early and position ourselves near the show center by the barrier. I had a great time and got all the shots that I really want to take. I only use my zoom lens 200mm. My husband who used to be an aerobatic pilot in one of his lives, dictates to me what to shoot and when to press my shutter button. I've love out teamwork this time around. So I reckon, good shots' criteria should and must include position during the show (mainly because I am just a teenie weenie person.)

Here's on of my shots of Peggy Wagstaff and Skip Stewart:

Our next outing will be at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio this coming month. It will be our national fly-in for this year. Each year we try to have it in different places. My husband and I hosted ours here in St. Louis in 2012. Summer to Autumn is our busy months for fly-in and airshows.

I couldn't agree more it all about positioning. We got there late because parking was a nightmare! You had to park at the mall and they shuttled you to the air base. They said there was 24k+ people there. So you could imagine how well that went when it came time to leave.

But we just found a little spot and stood near the front left about 30 rows back. The 2x converter really came in handy.

I was really bummed when they only broke the sound barrier once. I guess they 'weren't allowed' more than once? Thats just what I heard.

All in all, it was a good day. And I'm pleased with the results.

Now thats smart haha. Theres another air show next month about 2 hours away, this time its the Blue Angels. I think I may have to try and get there.
