Photos NOT OK to edit
There was a huge thunderstorm last night. First I stood there contemplating should I or shouldn't I get my camera out since it was raining a lot and I'd get myself soaked as well as the camera. Obviously I don't really care about getting soaked as much as I care about my camera but decided to go at it anyways. I'm using a 40D with 24-105mm IS L lens. I know the lens is "element proof" but not sure of the body. After taking 50 or so shots of NOTHING, i finally got 2 that actually captured something.
Here are the camera settings;
Mode: Tv
F-stop: f/4
Exposure time: 1/10 sec.
ISO: 800
Focal length: 24mm

Love these! capturing Lightning strikes is difficult. especially with such a short exposure time. my method is generally to mount on tripod, set long exposure and hope a strike happens. good job my friend :thumbup:

I really like the second photo, with the power lines. Well done :D

I've always wanted to try that...awesome!

Thank you both.

First I didn't really like the hydro pole in the picture and thought the picture could've been amazing without it but now I can see its given the picture an added touch.

I really like the first one. Good work. It's nicely framed in-shot and has wonderful atmospheric color.

These are really neat!
I'm not sure if I'd have the patience to be able to take pictures of lightning.
But very well done!

Thank you L0vemedead and yes it does acquire a lot of patience and a lil bit of getting wet (unless you wear one of these umbrella hats)
