his paws - you cut his paws off! ( and yes I have done that many a time as well!)
I think it would look a little better if you crop the top off a bit - the snow there is dead space and is not where my eye wants to look - it wants to look at the cat.

good shot overall and great exposure in a tricky situation (snow and sunlight)

LOL I didn't even notice I cut off his paws.

I think what it is is that when you photograph wildilfe you always tend to focus right on on the face of the animal - and sadly it is often the case that we don't have enough focal range to get a face portrate shot of an animal - but we still go as close as we can (and then bits round the edges get cut off).
Its something one has to practice - taking a step back and properly framing the whole shot and the animal. One can get away cutting the back end of an animal in with hte right pose though
