Time-lapse related question

As far as I can figure, there is no way to set the camera itself to take consistent shots (regularly timed interval for time-lapse) on a Canon Rebel T2i. Is there any way to set it up to take shots of this kind without having to connect it to the computer and remote control it with a program? Its just always a hassle to have to bringing my camera and laptop to shoot.

Just get an intervalometer for the camera and then you can set the time and number of shots. Plus it's small so it's easy to throw in to a camera bag.
