hey guys, so i took a bunch of photos of the same subject the other day and chose a couple of the best ones, after doing this i noticed that i could edit them and possibly make them look better, one thing i've been thinking about is making the edges of the photo darker fading into black as they go out, placing the subject in an oval shape in the centre, how could i do this on photoshop?

if it's any help i use Photoshop CS2..

thanks a lot guys, once i've got it done i'll post it if i think it looks good

adios,

Stefano

the easiest way is looking for a lomo filter plugin photoshop

hey thanks a lot, i cant believe i had to post this explaining it that way, completely forgot it was called "vignette", feel stupid now, especially because i was reading about it the other day

yeah that's good. Although working at Chick-fil-A, that makes me want to dip it in milk wash, bread it in seasoned coater and pressure cook it at 350 degrees in peanut oil for 4 minutes.

haha nice, made me laugh haha

what do you mean?

I enjoyed this image a lot. The composition is excellent, colors are true, and editing done perfect (does not look Photoshoped)!

Is this image from a group or project? What are you trying to say with this image? I would like to see a series. Why did you take this photo?

Keeping shooting you are on to something.

From the way I see it you did this on the floor, the floor tiles are clearly visible. The 2nd I think is - you use direct flash, the flash reflection is on the knive.

Maybe you can try it by placing piece of fabric under the wood chopper and place it near the door to recieve the natural lighting first and see what is like.

To get different light source direction, you just move yourself around instead of moving object.

Just an idea.

How do you know she doesn't have a tiled countertop? I agree with the flash though, I think it would be better if the flash was from the side or using lights, maybe she doesn't have an external flash though.

I really like the flash in the knife. My eyes keep going back to the spot which in turn keeps them in the frame.

The only spot I do not like is the flare on the cutting board near the chicken, thats slightly distracting. That can easily be fixed in photoshop.

Ciao,

Thanks for commenting, glad you liked it...

thanks for that, glad you liked it and im quite happy that it worked out fine..

the photoshopping on that photo was minimal, just the vignetting...

the truth is, this photo is not part of a series, it was just a simple one off thing, saw it and thought it looked good so quickly picked up my camera

for more photos check the links in my sig.

first of all, it wasn't taken on the floor, as MarcusM said, i have a tiled worktop as part of a slightly rustic looking kitchen.

secondly, i had to use the flash as my kitchen has really bad lighting and was in a rush to cook so didn't wanna take too much time on it and also it was taken in the evening..

i am a man thank you very much.

by flare do you mean the "chicken juice"? how could i fix that in photoshop?

thanks for the comments all of you

Not to crazy about this one. Don't like the direct flash and the bright spot it creates on the knife. If there was some sort of flare or sparkle that would emphasize the knife, it would add to the pic but now it only distracts.

And the focus looks off. It seems to be on the little pieces to the right. It should be on the big heartsized chunck IMHO.
