tips on DC?

I plan to visit DC next weekend and want to spend a night there so i can get to take some night shots. So where exactly are the sites in DC? I se this "Dupont Circle" on the map. Is that where I should be? What about the museums like the aerospace and so on?

Or if any of you guys are around the area, care to take us in for a night? Just me and a friend.... hotels are expensive.

If I drive in is the parking a pain? I plan to just leave my car somewhere and walk. If I get a hotel near then it will be great. If not I plan to take the train down from the hotel.

Anyone???

Don't know much about DC - except the parking is indeed a pain - had a meeting on the mall once and it took me over an hour to find a spot.

I recommend using the metro
