I saw this scene on my way to photograph something else, and thought it was screaming out for a b/w photo. Thoughts?

Overall, I think it works. When I view a monochrome, I look for a wide range of tone, and an interesting mix of form and texture. I think you captured all of those quite well, but I think you have included some distracting/non-essential background at the left-hand edge. Sometimes a simpler composition is better.

No, not really. You cropped the top, and left the left side alone. It is the left side that you should crop.

I like the shot but also agree with Designer.
