congrats mike! i just got mine friday - you're gonna absolutely love it! i was put off by the weight at first, but i love the feel of it after having gotten used to it!
also with the battery grip and two fully charged batteries i went from friday until last night without a charge after shooting about 1500 pics with it. was still at half, but i charged it just because i was bored and the charger looked lonely.
if your tamron 28-75 2.8 is anything like the tamron 17-50mm 2.8 i chose to pair to the 50d you're going to be going nuts over the sexy sharp images they produce together.
