I like #2 the best.
#4 and 5 are too blurry for my tastes.
I would crop the building out of #1, It has no appeal to me in the picture as a whole and is only a distraction to lead the eye away from the subject.
Keep at it.

Yes.

I've shown that photo to 3 women and 3 men in my life... all 3 women said something about the phallic roots/tower but none of the men have mentioned anything.

I really like #2, think you nailed it.

I like #1 on many levels, but I too would try cropping out the building in #1 as a composition test to see if it gives the look of a more vast sunset that seems endless. (The building blocks that).
That's a wicked sunset and I love the wide angle.

#3 is nice, but the red colors of the similar subject in #2 add much more to the image, IMO.
I'm not feeling the blurry look of the colors in the last one.
