Decided to do this weeks shoot at Bayard Cutting Arboretum, as I haven't been there yet this year. Today turned out to be a rather challenging day, as the clouds and sun just seemed to take turns screwing around with the light. And just to make it a little more interesting, the wind just kept on building all morning long. All and all, any day I can get out for a shoot, and be surrounded by mother nature, is a successful day. Sure beats work.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Joel, first one is my favourite, you captured the texture of the petals nicely :)
The others you can tell that you struggled a bit with the light, they don't have the pop and elegance you normally capture, but as you said any day you get to spend around your favourite subject doing what you love is a success :)

Judi, thanks so much for the very kind words.

Struggle at times is putting it mildly. I have a few more pictures to post from the shoot. While I love being outside, shooting in the controlled environments of the green houses sure solves a lot of these issues for me. The biggest one is that all these arboretums have an opening of 9:30-10 am, and a closing time between 4:30-5 pm. So I have to learn to adjust to, and get around these harsher conditions. Will start to carry a white silk umbrella as a diffuser. Can't wait to see the looks I get with it. Also, another major issues is that you just can't walk in their massive flower beds, so closeups are challenging, and even compounds the lighting issues.

You are quite welcome Joel, I bet you will look downright dapper with your white silk umbrella ;)
