that's ok.....sometimes you win... sometimes lose... I saw something... and it is something I am working on...a single portrait with emotion is easy, but to get it (the same emotion) from a couple it is a challenge but I intend to pursue it
the lack of eye contact with the viewer maybe the cause......

Ok, well all joking aside - you might be able to pull this off a bit better if you have them standing back to back, but have them holding one anothers hand as well. Also they are both looking down at the ground, which generally conveys the wrong emotion in this case. Maybe have them turn their heads slighly so they are level or have one level, one looking slightly upwards, with there faces turned a little more toward the camera. Not facing it directly, but just angled slightly towards - I think that might better convey what your after.

At the moment as the viewer I think that they are both intentionally looking away from me and down - which conveys more of an embarrasment or a disinterest/disgengagement to me. Again, this is all just my own personal take, YMMV, and if you'd care to add the dueling pistols feel free to run with it.. lol

but underneath it should also be these words
"You don't need to face the person you love to love them"

The image was very interesting and I looked at it for quite a while.
The tones and treatment are really interesting and REALLY nicely done.
Love the colors.

However, I didn't get what you're laying down in THIS comment.

I struggled with it because the warm tones were pleasant, but the positioning and posture of the subjects was not. Hands behind backs, heads down, turned away from each other, hair covering her eyes. It didn't look happy at all. Plus the dismal tones of the clothes in comparison to the warmth of the scene...

It's a very nice image, but if you were looking for actual togetherness, that wasn't what I got out of it.

If the idea is to show them loving each other without facing each other, why not have them hold hands, even with their backs to each other. That gesture implies intimacy, and the way the hands are held will communicate whether it is control, or love, or something else. Also, if they tilted their heads in the same direction, is could give the impression that they are sharing a word or a thought.

Love the lighting you've got going in all of these - Rembrandt comes to mind. Don't know how much is due to the lighting and how much due to post-processing, but the overall effect, in terms of the shadow play on the faces and on the clothes, is very interesting and appealing. Could you comment on how you've achieved this?

Yeah the lighting and treatment in these is just beautiful.

No matter if I think an image happens to "work" or not... I'm always happy to see more of binga's work. He's one of our true artists and very inspiring.
