As we were packing my new lens came in the mail(135 mm f2) and I love it!

Yes, the 135mm focal length is long enough that it looks "lensy". At f/2.8 or f/3.5 or at f/4 down to f/5.6 at typical family photography or formal portraiture distances, the in-focus zone is shallow, and the defocused zone both in front of and behind the subject begins and ends quickly yet smoothly, so a 135mm tends to be a great lens to isolate subjects against defocused areas of the photo.

Canon,Nikon,and Zeiss have all made excellent 135mm f/2 lenses. I've owned two Nikons, one from the 1980's Ai-S, the other a 1990's AF, and the very modern Canon 135/2-L...all were very nice picture makers. The look of the pictures, what I call the visual impression that a 135/2 can put on its pictures, is one of the best reasons to own one.
