I recently took some portraits of my friend Dylan, a favorite muse of mine for his unique look and his easy to work with attitude. We were very restricted on time of day and location, hence the harsh lighting, but I did what I could to make the best of it. If you don't like cigarettes or tattoos, feel free to complain about it.

Thank you so much! I really like how the light came out as well. Wasn't necessarily how I'd have planned things had I been able to, but great given the circumstances anyways.

sometimes you work with what you have and you did great on this one. There are only a few of us portrait shooters on here. It is sad they get so little traction but that is life. Heck over on the Nikon forum I get polices or looks so I stopped posting there. My Flickr gets over 120k views plus on upload days then 70k to 80k of the rest of the week

I tend to do alright on flickr as well, though not close to those numbers, but I think that's because the majority of who I photograph are men, and women's photos tend to be much more popular on flickr.
I've slowed down on posting here a lot. I just feel like my threads get buried really quickly. I don't mind posting my very favorites every couple weeks and hoping they get seen though.

There is truth about men vs women and also the amount of clothing too. I think people on the forums just don’t shoot portraits and are afraid off them. I joke natural light photographer is short for can’t use flash. I think there is many natural light photographers on here too and they have no clue.

Honestly though, if I had the choice I would use natural light 100% of the time. That said, learning and utilizing studio has been necessary in order to be more widely available to clients. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy studio photography, but not anywhere near as much as I love using natural light for portraits.
