I read something on these stunts a couple years ago. Officials are afraid it is becoming a epidemic. YOunger people constantly trying to best eachother by being more and more daring and get noticed by their friends and gain popularity with online "stunts".
There has been a somewhat increase in death toll associated with it and it is a concern.

Eh people have been doing things that kill them for years now - sports, mountain climbing, white water rafting, driving a car (which sadly likely has a higher % of killing you than anything else) etc...

Also --- I'm now going to hide - on the ground floor!

wow, that's some pretty awesome finger strength. I've been doing a bit of clibing recently and it's something that always lets me down on the climbing walls. That's a bit of a mental expample though!
