Tough guy at night

[Iron Flatline]

Well, some acting was involved. My friend is not really a tough guy, but he plays one for my benefit while I learn more about using flash.

The first two work, at least fundamentally. Unfortunately it was really dark, and my AF refused to find anything. So I had to focus manually, which apparently is a skill that eludes me.

To get focus to work in dark places, carry around a small flashlight... light your person and set focus to manual so it doesn't change, then put the light down and shoot your series of shots.
