Hey Dark, great subjects!

These all look like they were taken at high noon and in an effort to smooth them out and compensate for the super harsh highlights midday sun gives you have ended up with whites that are not white and an overall hazy cast on them. First solution I try to avoid shooting in such harsh light unless I'm shooting BIF's at high shutter speeds.
When processing these make sure your background is accurate and select just the bird and try working with it, that's where all of the brilliant highlights have the worst effect.

#2 is an eye catcher, the shadow makes the picture. Ed

also dark shadow made the picture

Nah 755Am its in the EXIF.I could make a million excuses but I will just say under the lighting conditions off that tree. I made the best exposure to keep the eyes and the detail in the main feathers and iridescent colors. I agree the whites look muddy in #1 and a little in #3 but I disagree though that it looks harsh day light.

I actually almost forgot where i was for a moment. On the jumping Oriole i almost belly down thinking if I catch her jumping again It might give a look of a high jump then I realized I was in the middle of a road next to a blind corner.LOL Thanks guys for the comments.

Ha, that second one :) That's nothing but the best of timing :) Oh I love that. Beautiful Swallow shots and good behaviour on the first one. Love those shinning colours and darn good in the details department as well. I'm a harsh light shooter as well, its those shutter speeds we need. I do like overcast thin cloud for the all white birds though.

All the best Dave.

Danny.
