Ken Rockwell's reviews of older Nikon-made lenses are actually pretty good from a hands-on, practical point of view. He puts a lot of emphasis on practical sharpness, as well as on how fast and how well a lens tends to focus. In terms of a series of current web posts that tell people about OLDER, mostly discontinued Nikkor lenses, Ken Rockwell's pages offer quite a bit of practical,real-world advice. The only problem is that occasionally, or even more frequently, Ken slips in some totally whacked, B.S., or crackpot type of comment. He does have a LOT o good reviews of older, lower-cost lenses that in my experience, are pretty much spot-on.
