Tried to get a pic of the sunset. C&C

So this afternoon the sky looked amazing and I tried to get some nice pictures of it but I found it much harder to photograph sunsets that I had originally thought. Here's my pic. If anyone has tips on sunsets/sunrises please let me know. Thanks

Ah, sunsets are visually deceptive.

Your camera will probably try to balance the exposure ... thus causing the sky to become too bright.
You are better off exposure locking the sky then recompose.

Or shoot manually and compensate.
