Trip to the train yard (56k warning, 7 pics)

I went to the train yard two evenings ago to take some pictures and just enjoy the weather, it's a nice bicycle ride.

This must be an old piece of some bridge's pillar or something... it sure does look like that, besides, it sits on the beach.

This one was taken next to the pillar I just mentioned, except I was looking west instead of east.

This one was taken a little later, there is a cliff near the beach that goes up to the tracks. This shot was taken on top of that cliff.

This thing controls on which tracks oncoming trains should switch to... I'm sure you're all familiar with what they do.

Track closeup, I liked the contrast.

This one was taken fairly far away from the cars, several hundred meters.

I wouldn't say I'm a fanatic, but I enjoy railways... my house sits at about 50-60ft from the tracks, which are fairly busy. I guess it's just part of my childhood, growing up here
