Tripod Opinion

Hey Guys, Looking for a good quality tripod and head. I didn't originally think I could afford a ballhead, but now I am considering it.

I am not going to be doing alot of heavy duty stuff so I think this should be fine. Let me know if you've owned this or if you think its worth the money

I have the 494RC2 head, I like it. It gets hard to use when your really low to the ground, but how often do you plan on being that low?

Its extremely smooth and easy to adjust on the fly.

I don't have experience with the 293 tripod though, I have the 055XPROB

Assuming you've determined you're ok with flip locks (that's my preference, personally, but some people aren't fans), that's probably a decent tripod. I picked up an Induro tripod once that had that reversible center column design, and I wasn't a fan of that at all, but that might not be a big deal for you. I wound up with a 190CXPRO4, myself, and I much prefer the horizontal center column design on that.

Re: getting low, I found it cumbersome to get really low with my setup, too, until I put an L-bracket on my camera. It made those shots tons easier - an unexpected benefit for the L-bracket.
