Tripods,

i ordered a canon t3i,
My needs in a tripod are to be stable, and in range of 80$ (180$) <--- New range
Im going to be using it for Long exposure shots, maybe some filming, alot of outside stuff and possibly some portraits.
And i cant really come up with a good tripod i have looked at alot but i cant really tell if im going to be happy with it,


Also if you guys got any recommendations please please reply to the thread,
What im asking you tho for the advice part, is which i should get and what would be some pro's and cons, i need to order it today so it gets here on time with my camera, Thankyou so much!

#1 what do you want to spend?

#2 What are you going to do with it? (do you need a lightwieght tripod for hiking, or a heavy duty beast for precision work....or in between?)

#3 what kind of head do you prefer.... and do you want legs and a head separately, or are you looking for a combo?

#4 how much weight does it need to support?

Needs to support cannon t3i, (1.1 pounds), im going to use the tripod multipurpose, outside/inside/ Probably for work if i plan to get a job but willing to spend 60$ just trying to find something nice and cheap,

I got my sunpak pistol grip today. (I'm the one that recommended it in your other thread) I got to try it out right after work... Coming from an older tripod that had multiple knob adjustments, I love that I can so quickly make changes with this tripod.

Sorry.. the cheapest tripod I would even recommend is around $100... Manfrotto makes combo in that range.

I do have one of these Amazon.com: SLIK PRO 700DX Professional Tripod with Panhead (615-315): Camera & Photo that I got as a gift! I did use it a little bit. I will let you have it for $60 plus shipping! Only thing is that, with a really heavy, long lens.. the QR on the head, will allow movement when in portrait orientation. Would not be a problem for your system though.

Also have two of these.. I have been meaning to get up on Ebay.... Amazon.com: Slik Sprint Pro II Tripod in Gun Metal With Quick Release Ball Head & Case: Electronics --- better for point and shoots.. but would handle a small body / small lens combo no problem. $45 each.. plus shipping.

having such a hard time finding a good tripod, like i cant tell if its good or not, and i just want something stable and easy to use so i can do outside shooting, and maybe even for future work / maybe even for videos, its just finding one in the 40-80$ range is hard since first of all its my first time buying a tripod and that everyone says cheap tripods aren't good haha,
couple i found that i think would be decend, please judge me on my options and give me more suggestions

Hey, sorry I didn't reply to your pm earlier. Here's my sunpak...

I took this 15 second exposure with it so yea it's pretty sturdy.

Has no problem holding my a33 + tamron 75-300mm.

Go to a shop and play with as many as you can. Buy the one that feels like it was carved from a single slab of granite. If you're on a tight budget, all you can afford is stability... any fancy features or convenience items or portability compromises will cost you money that's better spent preventing your camera from jiggling.

Unfortionatly, its just one of these things were you get what you pay for. That being said, this tripod WILL be holding your camera. So in my opinion, this isnt the post to be cutting back your costs. But if you want cheap, I'd reccomend that you chose a heavy and sturdy one. This way it will atleast be able to hold the camera. If you buy some cheap aluminium thing, its going to blow down the second you arnt holding it, with your camera on top of it...
I got a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod with a Manfrotto 804RC2 head. Which im quite satisfied with. Hasnt failed me yet. But this is a bit over your budget of 60USD.

this comes up a lot. People want three things with a tripod.

cheap
stable
lightweight

pick two as all three are impossible.

If you buy cheap you will be buying another, and perhaps even another.

Buy a good tripod, which means more than $60 and unless you use it to jack up your car or a hammer, it should last a life time.

Take your longest lens and camera body into a photo store and place it on the tripod in portrait mode and see if the lens follows gravity and the whole plate with camera moves. If so, go up in strength, which means price as well.

I really don't get all the fuss about tripods. I bought a tripod for $30 9 years ago and up until I bought the sunpak I was still using it. :lmao: The only downside to how cheap is was, was that it was really time consuming to make adjustments which is why I went with a pistol grip.
