trying out rim lighting...

Tonight I decided to try out some rim lighting, please C&C. I realized while editing these that I could have used a little more DOF, and I wished that I could have a better look at his eyes. Any tips you could give would be greatly appreciated!

flash seems a little too hot, possibly turn the power down a little so you dont get the halo.

Ditto, and perhaps increase your key light some too.

Personally, I'm just amazed you got a dog to sit still in the right spot to even consider using rim lighting.

But that's the whole point of rim lighting...to light the edge of the subject from behind so that it separates the subject from the background.

I dont like how cut the chin of the first image. Dont have to much experiance with rim lighting but i think they look great

Thanks, I had some issues w/ that first one b/c I was trying to crop out some cords. Next time I won't be so lazy and just clone them out. Thanks for looking!
