OK. I find it is the carpet that kills that photo. I think If you had a black surrounding (background, floor), spread the "baubles" arround and took the image at the same level as the baubles with a shallow DOF, it could be neat...

I think maybe the problem is that you have too many balls. Possibly if you had some removed, the remaining balls would have a better appearance.

This reminds me of the Old SNL Schweddy Balls bit with Alec Baldwin.

I think the most important thing to do is play with your balls in different lighting and with different backgrounds and angle until you find something that makes your balls look good.
