Trying to work with lines and cropping... C&C

This is from a a week or so ago...
I actually drove past the person in the shot, pulled over about 1/2 mile in front of him and waited for him to walk past before snapping this.

Overall, I'm trying to work with the lines in road in this shot...
I'm not a fan of the dirt and rock on the right side of the image though, but i think the crop works...

Hmmm... I think it would be improved greatly by cropping a significant amount of the empty space image left. The problem here is that there are too many lines. The white shoulder line is an almost perfect line; it takes the eye right to the subject, but is so hard to see past the subject that the eye stops, BUT, the yellow centre lines fight with this and try to drag the eye up and out of the frame past the subject.

I certainly like the second crop a lot more. Much less distracting, and the lines actually lead your eyes to the subject.
