Photos NOT OK to edit
I WANT FX FORMAT.
The D4 looks awesome.
The 1Dx may even be better. But I'm pretty sure the D4 will rule the roost at high ISO.
The problem I see is the D4 is huge, bulky, heavy, even more heavy with a big macro lens, more heavy still with lighting
that sufficient for super macro. And I hand hold everything. when I can.
I see no ring flash system for it that comes close to my current rig.

Pros: Bigtime image quality. Fat pixels, beautiful camera.
Cons: Big money, bulk, weight, I see nothing that comes remotely close to the outstanding Pentax ring flash system.

If you'll have sufficient lighting why are you worried about having such a high iso body?

I'll be using it for other things besides only macro.
Plus I want the best out there.
I'm only going around once.

Actually nikon and canon don't bother making any much diffusion gear - you gotta build that yourself

For those wondering why I would abandon Pentax, and what it would take for me to abandon Pentax, here it is.
I've longed for Pentax to produce a body with a full frame sensor. Pentax glass is superb, their bodies build quality is second to none.
Image quality, at least with the K5 is excellent.

But I just keep thinking, " What if I would have caught the fruit fly shot with a 16mp FX sensor?'
Fatter pixels capturing more light and detail. More than likely much higher print quality and able to print a larger print
while keeping that quality. The ability to crop more and lose less, so to speak. What if.
The image would have been even beter.I will probably never get that shot again as well as quite a few others.
Why not have the best equipment for the task? Rather than having regrets because you didn't.

I often see it said, " It's not the camera, it's the lens." It's not the camera or the lens, it's the photographer."
The equipment can always be better than the photographers skill level.
But the photographer can only get as good as allowed by equipment as image quality goes.
A shyt photographer can find a way to screw that up too. But even a shyt photographer can get lucky and get that stunning image
and that's when he'll wish he/she had the best image quality available.

I want a full frame. And Pentax doesn't have it.
NIKON BABY.

I stated this before and will say it again, you buy into a system that will support you now and expand with you in the future. :D Nikon and Canon are doing just that for the users. :D

There are ring flash adapters out there for SB800's and SB900's. The D4 is a beast but I'm waiting for the D800 to see before I decide to get it or not. :D

IF you're a macro addict GO CANON!
MPE 65mm macro :)

^ that lens is crazy awsome!!
wish nikon would get with the program and develop something similar.

i have the r1c1 kit: comes with two sb-r200 flashes expandable to 6, has difusers, gels, stands, and a flexy arm for holding flash. good kit.

To be fair the MPE is rather an oddball in that its market really is very small indeed. Macro hasn't really got the sports, journalists nor wildlife professionals to boost sales (such as the big L whites). Plus a lot of the industry groups that use higher mag gear are likely using electron miscroscopes and other highly specialist gear with fitted cameras - so the MPE is kind of the odd one out.
