Twin Flash Communication Question

Hello, I am not a photography guru by any means. I am a dentist and I take dental photography. I've used the same setup for awhile now. I own a Nikon d7100. And I utilize Meike's twin flash system (MK-GT620 with 2x MK-R200) [yes I know I went cheap]. I've recently broken one of my flashes and decided to buy a replacement. However, when I received the replacement, it said it was MK-R200 II.
I am wondering if the R200 II is compatible with the GT620 trigger because right now I cannot get them to communicate with each other despite being on the same channel and group. (The old existing flash fires, but he new R200 II does not).


I can get this setup to work if I put the R200 II on S1 (slave). But then it'll be quite the hassle to change settings each time.

D, I don't know anything about Meike but a mkll item is usually the same as a mkl item except with updates such as more power or maybe more wireless range etc.
If it were different in a substantial way it would not be a mkll but a different model such as a 210 etc.
So My gut feeling is that it should work the same. Make sure if ot needs to be paired that it is in the correct pairing mode. Usually the trigger or the flash has an LED that turns from yellow or red to green when the system is recognized and ready to fire.
Maybe put each one in its own group and fire two groups?
I'll assume they have no help line?

I looked up the Meike twin flash unit on the Adorama website, and it is $284 for the complete unit.

Since the replacement flash unit is designated as being a Mark II generation unit, I think you might have to either replace the whole thing or get another Mark II generation flash unit and pop that on. It is quite likely ,I think, that the communication protocol is different between Generation 1 and Generation 2.

That sounds about right. I actually charge more. Specialists will charge more than General Practitioners.

Yikes. That may be the case. I guess I'll confirm with the manufacturer. Thanks!
