I'm becoming more confident in my pictures as I learn more. Having only about a month of experience, I'm still extremely inexperienced... however, my wife and I have went out every weekend to take pictures since getting my first DSLR last month. Here are two that I took yesterday. I'd appreciate any thoughts on how these could be improved.

2: 1.6s, 100, f/32

I did some PP in CS5, but very little. I cropped, lowered the exposure a bit (it was sunny when I took these), and increased the saturation to bring out the greens and blues. I'm still a supernoob at all of this, so any and all suggestions are welcome.

Blue water? Green water? NOT! Unless you are going for some over saturated Fairy-Tale look! If I were you, I would consider starting from scratch and try to keep it a little more real! ;)

Well I'm going to move up to commenting on others photos. I like #1. Particularly I find the difference between the blurred and non-blurred rocks to be interesting. The rocks almost blend into the water making it seem like it's blurred water and non-burred water as well...if that makes sense...

the blur is nice.. but why is it BLUE? ;) Or does that look normal to you? Or maybe you don't calibrate your monitor.. and you don't see it?

I guess I did get carried away trying out CS5 (I just got it yesterday). Here are the originals, untouched. I am definitely happy with the cropping, but I can see how the colors do make it look too fake.

The first one -

Heh, well I AM looking at these on a laptop. Though in comparison to the originals, I see what you meant cgipson1. And even if I WAS looking at these on the other monitor, I probably wouldn't have noticed anyway. Hence why I'm just now starting to comment on other's photos :) Maybe I should wait a bit longer!

Are you shooting in raw or jpeg?

Correcting the WB issue is stupendously easy in raw, not so easy in jpeg.

I do shoot in RAW, luckily, that was one of the first things I read to do.

Here's another try at it. Perhaps I'm going about it all wrong. All I did on this one was pull the exposure down a bit, brighten it, and increase the saturation enough to show the moss the way it really looked in the woods.
