Blurred out roses better or a bit more in focus rose better?

I missed the focus on this one a bit...

yeah since both the dog and flowers are in focus and they both occupy the same amount of frame space, it's not that clear

Subject is dog with roses, but mostly dog. But I didn't want the roses completely out of the picture because it was a Valentine's Day shoot.

there both fighting for my attention in the picture. Try to make it clear what the subject it. possible frame the dog into the shot more.
