Two fun little girls - Please CC :)

(So I lied, I have more to say!)

I'm not offended by anything that has been said. Just disappointed that in a forum of photographers, we can't look at a photo of a young child as a photo of a young child. It disgusts me.

The child's mother was the one who told me I should put it in my portfolio. It's a fun shot of a child doing something children like to do. More typical of a younger child around the age of 5 or 6 and she is 9, but she is a special needs, developmentally delayed child. She is physically 9, mentally 5 or 6.

I guess I was just more bothered that people had to comment on the "pose" rather than just look past it and give useful CC on the photos....

removed the second photo since some males can't see the innocence of a 9 year old girl "posing" in a way that a lot of children like to......... Males never cease to amaze me... No wonder I'm happily single...

Mods should delete this comment too. It's a bit inappropriate as well.

Mods haven't deleted anything in this thread. I deleted my second image. The mods here don't intervene unless absolutely necessary.

We can let this thread die now because I can see it's going to become nothing but a train wreck. And after this post, I don't have anything else to say :)

Fair enough. Than YOU should delete that comment. It's combative and disrespectful, and well, it will cause more harm than good. I didn't see the pose but perception is everything. What you call a problem, is what I call a reality. We live in a very sexual society and pictures encourage the imagination to depict the scenario. It doesn't make someone who notices something inappropriate a pedophile, and it certainly doesn't generalize men.

The pose is apart of a photos composition is it not? You asked for critiques/criticism/comments and you are getting it. Would you post a photo of a toddler during bath time? Or do you think that is OK on the internet as well?

Here's food for thought, there are enough registered sex offenders for you to meet at least one a day during a day of errand running. Now multiply that by what ever very large number that comes to mind, and you have the capabilities(horrors) of the internet. You don't have to get apprehensive about it, but you do live in a world that has great positives, and very horrifying negatives. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is.

This thread is FANTASTIC!!!!! (Can you hear my eyes rolling from there?)

To the OP..... The second pic was just as being described here............ easily construed as inappropriate. Feel free to post it anywhere you want since the parent of that child has seemingly given you permission, but be aware there are terrible people in the world that wouldn't view it as innocent as you do....... and this is a public forum frequented by all sorts of folks.... not limited to just photographers.

Stereotype away, and form whatever opinion you want about the folks of this forum. That is your right as a human bieng, but do realize that if someone were to engage in inappropriate behaviour as a result of that picture, you would be the one enabling it. I understand your defensive stance on this. Nobody is accusing you of intentionally taking questionable pictures of children. We are merely pointing out the evil in the world that could view your art in a different light.

Have a great day!

Sincerely, some asshole male person on the internet that doesn't like to see children exploited, wheter intentional or "innocent" :meh:

This is exactly the point I was trying to make, but without the awesome use of your wording. Thanks.

They are my best friend's kids though

But you don't need to be gentle with any CC

I can take it!

I had to do "group" shots for my portrait photography class this week and the group had to be 2 or more people... So of course almost all my assignments are children, so here's what I got for this week

You're not a newbie to this forum, you know how it can go.
As far as the only shot I can see, I find the expressions conflict imo, but the focus and lighting seems fine.

Nice flat lighting

Doesn't most high key photography/portraiture have flat lighting? ..... After doing a google images search, it appears that about 80% of the high key portraiture images that come up have some pretty flat lighting.......

It all depends who's your looking at

It was very hard to CC that photo without paying attention to the pose. It didn't look like it was a shot of her playing. It was way to close up of a shot maybe if it was a little further back it wouldn't have looked so bad to me.
