These are two islands off the coast of Alderney, one of the Channel Islands (in the English Channel). They were taken in September, when the Gannets had finished breeding, but there were still plenty around.

Les Etacs is just a hundred metres or so off the western tip of Alderney (in the foreground). It is probably the best place in the UK to see Gannets.

Ortac is around seven kilometres offshore, north of Alderney. This was taken with the maximum zoom of the camera. The rocks in the foreground are just a few hundred metres away.
Both were taken with a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS which I had just acquired a few days previously. Despite being a compact camera, I was quite impressed with what I could do with it.
