Did you focus on the feeder instead of the bird? The birds are blur. Longer focal length, faster shutter speed and better focus.

I agree with the above comments, but also wanted to say that you caught a neat moment there - good timing. Is the feeder in your backyard?

Thanks for the comments. I had less than a second at manual focus to get these so they are not as technically correct as they would be had I had more time. I shot off about a dozen shots in just a few seconds while these guys were moving around (quite fast too). The lens was at full 300 mm.

The feeder is attached to the deck on the back of our house. There are a couple of other seed feeders there too so we get lots of birds. And squirrels. And racoons.
