Unable to post photos?

Hi all,

After taking some time away from the site, I've been back and reading tons of posts and articles, and admiring all your photos.

I tried to upload some of my own tonight but have been unable to. No errors -- it says it's processing the images, but then they never show up in the album I created for them.

Yes, I've been through the sticky on uploading, and I've been able to upload in the past (I have a couple albums from when I was here more often in the past).

Any suggestions?

It took me several tries before I 'mastered' the art of uploading photos to this site and others. Each have their own restrictions on size. I found that while uploading, navigating away from that screen, one will never see the error message that indicates failure to upload. So I just 'wait it out' until it indicates success or failure.

Ok, I was able to upload if I resized the image down under 2MB. I had already resized down to under 3.5 (varying from 2.2 up to 3.4). None of those work. The 1.9 MB image worked.

Now on to get some CC and figure out how to take better shots

Always upload a picture at the size you want to display. (Otherwise you are trusting the server software to resize and resharpen the images.)
Resize and choose quality around 40-60 because anymore is totally useless for display, only takes more time to load and wastes space.

I usually upload my photos on photobucket.com, and then post the

If you select a file that is to big, the uploader places a ! inside an Orange circle. Hovering your cursor over the ! shows the text box that says - Image File Size to Large.
