Under 18 Photographers

17 going on 18 in a week and have been at photography since 15 and doing paid jobs and did Santa at the mall / not hired by the mall did it for our selfs as I work with my family as we all run our own businesses. Have a simple studio with not a fancy camera but I learnt that even a lamp and a old camera can produce a great photo if you know what your doing. I may not have years of knowledge but I sure can run with the adults happy shooting /Sam

School photography was how I got into the business. The work was boring to me but I learned a lot.

Nope, you are not the only one.

Be ready a lot of people don't consider us as "photographers" or don't respect our opinions.

Just remember, we have the same capabilities as any other photographer!

Luke.. you have the same "potential" as any other photographer... but it will take time and experience to bring that out. I don't think we discount anyone based on age, I think we place more emphasis on ability and knowledge. Sometimes it is probably hard to deal with a mostly adult forum... I am sure you get frustrated at times.

Yes of course I can get frustrated, we all can. I meant no offense to anyone but I have gotten crap from SOME because I'm 17.

It helps make me better though.

Hey Luke,

Is there a place that I can view your photos?

Going pro at 18?

LOL! My 13-y.o. would tell you otherwise...as I pay him his "confiscatory" demands (all of which he earns while at a wedding or T&I foto days) of $10/hour.

I'm also 17 (as of November).
I started out doing video work and short films when I was 11 or so. Just bought my first DSLR at the end of last summer. I primarily bought it for filmmaking, as that's what a lot of people are using these days, but I figured I'd try my hand at photography since I had the camera. I actually really enjoy it, and it's something I can do any time I want, where as filmmaking takes a lot of planning and depending on other people.
I'm really excited about this coming year. I'm planning on doing a 365 project/challenge. I've heard a lot of good things about it and that it'll really improve your photography skills, so I'm pretty pumped to get started!

I'm 14, turing 15 in March. Just started snappin' shots back in September so I'm still getting up to you're and tevo's level.

Not sure this is the right place for this thread.....but........

Am I the only one?

By the way, Instagram doesn't count!

Gabe

Gabe... you are not the only one! We have several that I can think of (although I am not one!

Noooo... but weren't you about that age when you first started at Bedrock Studios as a go-fer?

It's a spammer.

They don't really want to see your pictures. They want you to see their website.

I'm 15 and borrowing a Nikon D60 at the moment but literally just about to order a Nikon D5100 before a trip to Munich in February. So you're not alone! My e-portfolio should be running soon as well. :)

Im 17 turning 18 in two months. I've only been shooting for a year or so now, but I'm loving every moment of it.
