Under the circumstances, how did I do? (fireworks)

It was raining and my gear isn't all weather sealed, so I decided to stay by our house where only little rain reached the camera. I got rain on the front element, which provided me with lots of bokeh balls. Due to me location, I had limited view to the fireworks. Here's my own favourite. What do you think?

The firework itself is fine. It's the rest of the photo that's distracting.

The structure & woodwork in the lower left catch my eye. I want to see the person in the lower left better (although I know movement is involved. The house up the hill, with it's lighting, is distracting. And then I see the corner of the roof on the right.

Just too much too look at! Try a little cropping.

I tend to prefer this much more than the Standard photo of a pure black sky with a firework in it.

I like the image, but the bright building in the background is a serious distraction. If you could reduce the brightness of that and clone out the blurred person in the right foreground, I think you would have a very interesting fireworks shot, definitely not the norm.

But seriously, the image itself is bad to anyone who doesn't live here, and that's okay. Actually, the image is probably poor to those living here as well. At least I exposed for the fireworks properly.

Does the bokeh balls ruin it (in addition to everything but the firework...fireworks?)?

Compaq.. my take on it.. I blacked out all disttractions.. and then cloned the water drop bokeh and some of the spark trail, and did a small crop.

It doesn't look anything like fireworks to me, but it does make a nice abstract.

I liked the original shot, with the location shown in it. It's a place + firework rocket. As such, the buildings add to the shot.

I agree, I like the building in the foreground as well. For what he had to work with I think it's kind of cool!
