underwater swimming blur

I had some time to kill during a Masters swim meet and thought I'd play around with some slow shutter speed stuff. Two of these were shot with a Canon T2i and a kit 18-55mm. The other two were with a Canon 5D mklll and a 70-200mm. Personally I like the forth one.

Each one has some good things going on with it. The second has the most immediacy to it; big swimmer, seen from close-in, the one, goggled eye visible, good bubble trail on the movement, plus the competitor in the background. The first one is kind of dark, and his arm position looks very static. The fourth has a very beautiful look to it, with really NICE light on the focused-on swimmer, and a really nice repeating pattern. I like the repeating swimmers and their bubble patterns, which makes this almost like a great impressionistic painting. Ordinary swimming pictures are pretty boring, but these are all not-ordinary.

Thanks for the comments, I was getting pretty bored after shooting swimmers from ages 18-90 years old, 8 hours straight since Friday, last day is today. I needed a break, and playing with the slow shutter stuff was good. They were all shot through the window in the pool.

These are really cool. I actually like the third one with the pattern of the other swimmers echoing the shape of the predominant swimmer. Maybe a slight adjustment is needed in some where the corners of the window seem to show a little but you got some really creative shots. I've only photographed frozen water.
