I like the shot. Personally, I might consider a crop like this:

I like this one! Makes me think of South Beach. :) I think a crop off the top might be in order, but I'm not certain it should be as much as suggested by Rot's edit. Maybe end up with 5 rows, just cropping out the top one for symmetry's sake? That would also put the half-open window shades in the center, again for symmetry as my eye was drawn to them anyway. Cool shot!

Interesting take, Majeed. My problem with the crops was four makes a good balance but is it enough, and five places the two odd windows in the middle which is too much for my eye. I will give this a more careful look. Thanks for the input.

I think I have decided that the crop loses the patterning and this shot was always about pattern.

To me, the 4 rows works for a couple reasons:

1. The break in the pattern (the two open windows) is not centered. 5 rows, and the break in the pattern is centered, which isn't as visually interesting in my opinion.

2. Since it's wider, and less tall, it does make it easier to view in the web medium.

I think a crop (maybe not exactly this one, but something like it) helps organize the image as bit more. Upon my initial viewing, I wasn't sure if I should look at the top where the pattern is broken up, or the open blinds, or the small object near the top row. With pattern shots like this, any divergence from the normal pattern is going to pull the eye. I didn't feel like I knew where to look.

I think normally in still life and "static studies" of most types, an ODD number of elements is almost always more compelling than an even number of elements. That would make a five-row crop a good possibility. However, in terms of making a more traditional aspect ratio image, I tried an alternate four-row crop, trying to make use of the two windows with the opened shades, by putting them at the bottom left, and trying to play those two "different" windows off the top, right hand corner's open patio.

This is an interesting crop as well, Derrel. This is Majeed's crop with a slight twist as to where and how much, but I think it works.

I think this shot can be made into a number of different pictures! It's a cool-looking building.

I like it!

Cool photo. Of the variations shown I most like the original and Derrel's (for the reasons he explained).
