Unwanted Image Distortion

I don't know why this is? I can't get a clear definition if I've damaged the sensor in my camera, it needs to be cleaned, memory stick or what? This started about 4 months ago adn the only good thing out of this is my skills in photoshop. I want this fixed. Any help is MUCH appreciated!!

btw: I use a Sony DSC-H7.

Looks like compression artefacts. Is the quality on the camera set to high?

How much of a magnification is that? You can't expect to zoom in 300% and have perfectly clear images.

Other than changing the image size: 8M, 3:2, 5M etc... There's no other way to increase the quality. It looks like the lowest quality setting for jpg.

It's at 100%. Having said that, when I open the photo in Window Image Viewer and the "fit to screen" size is mandated, the photo appears to be normal. However, chose the option to view "actual size" you get what I posted above.
