A meteor shower happens when the Earth's orbit take it through the debris field left by a comet. Consequently, meteor showers are visible from most countries that are in the proper hemisphere, and the shower appears to emanate from a specific constellation which the meteor shower is named for.

Note that most of the people on earth live in the northern hemisphere so - Meteor Showers

Use a tripod in dark skies. If you have one, an equatorial mount is best. Fact it towards Polaris. Otherwise known as the north star.
Use the widest fastes lense you have . I use a 10-20.
800 ISO is good.
Manual focus on infinity.
shoot in Bulb at about 30 sec intervals
Coffee.
The shower is pretty much all over the sky so don't stress out trying to find it.
It's going to be very cloudy where I am. It always seems to be so!

I usually go shoot for the summer meteor showers, but we are HEAVILY cloud covered and supposed to be thru the entire week.

If it is anything like a golden shower you might need a water housing

Find a wide open sky with some scenery (if it's subtly lit, even better). Open up that aperture and set focus to infinity. Do fairly long exposures at a minute or two, or until you feel you've seen the desired amount of meteors come through. I was hoping to get out for the metor shower this past weekend, but it was too cloudy
