Hello All,

I have been out of the photography world for quite some time, I just had my first child which has sparked me taking a lot more photos and gaining an interest again! :allteeth:

I was thinking of selling everything I have lenses included and purchasing the 6D kit with the 24-105 f/4L lens. What do you think? 6D body only and buy a different lens? I know a lot of people still use the 5D classic, should I keep it and just invest in better glass instead? I plan on doing a lot of portrait type photos.

Current equipment:

Canon 5D
Canon 20D
Sigma 150-500
Canon 28-135
Canon 15mm Fisheye
Canon 17-85
Canon 50mm f/1.8

I am a Nikon boy but my friend and mentor I work with in events use only his Canon 6D
Really good camera, a bit basic in AF department but if you don't do any sports shooting then the 6D is plenty good and the sensor on it is actually a little bit better then the one on the 5D III

So while I am sure many if not most will tell you to upgraded lenses I would say get the 6D with the 24-105mm which is a good general use lens

personally I would get the 6d but there really isn't a wrong answer.

recently purchased a refurbished 6d and 24-105L from Canon....really like it.....I also have a 70d that I use when the Grand kids are in non stop motion.....

a refurbished 6D would be a good upgrade

Thanks for the replies! I will move forward with the 6D purchase. Looks like the 6D refurbished kit is out of stock on canon's website. I don't mind spending the extra money on a new one anyway. Thanks for the help!

OK - refurb listings change daily (or even hourly!) so it helps to subscribe to a notification service like canonpricewatch or the "market watch" section on POTN
