Upgrading from a 450d beginner

Hi,

I've had a 450d with a. Stock 18-55 and a 18-135 lens but it's time for me to step up a bit. I have purchased a 24-105 l series lens so I can use this on my 450 but I'm wondering a both getting a 5D mk1 as budgets tight.. Is this the right move?

You don't say what you want from a new camera. I will say I had the 24-105L with a 5d and I think it's a great kit.

Ah I'm not pro, I take my kids out and try to get good shots, just general photography. I also have a reef which I need a macro for but budget isn't there yet one of the many I have taken so far on my 450

I had a 5D and the 24-105-L and a few other lenses and a 70-200/2.8 for a little under a decade...I got rid of the 24-105 a couple years ago, but I have held onto the 5D. The 5D is a rather pedestrian camera body--it's not a high-tech body, and the autofocusing system is not really state of the art or anything, but it is a pretty decent shooter. Mine, like many, did not have very good LED readouts in the viewfinder when used in bright conditions, like at the ocean shore...the LEDs were very weak, becoming almost totally invisible in bright lighting conditions. But other than that, a very good shooter. Made a lot of nice photos with it, and the sensor performance is very good. Even though it uses an old-tech sensor, it has LARGE pixels, about 12.8 million of them, so it really hits a sweet spot! It also balances very,very well with the 24-105-L IS USM zoom.
