Use family as posing Guinea Pigs

My family came for a short visit. Acutally less then 24 hours. My little cousin has had about 10 heart operations at Arkansas Children Hospital in his life of 11 years. He was coming for a checkup. He has a heart disorder, so he wanted some pictures of himself, so here he is and his older sis. There is 2 years different in age and you can see what a difference between a healthy and a child with health issues. These photos are at last minute...just out having fun. Feel free to C&C though. It's nice that you got to spend a little family time.

As for the photos, it looks like the DOF was plenty large and the focus was spot on. BTW, great job on getting a kid to look like he is enjoying being a guinea pig!

I would work on your use of the sun. Every face is shadowed and a lot of the photos were back lit which caused them to turn out very flat and featureless. 1-4 are completely centered so watch your framing on that. On #2, I would crop out the entire concrete wall/pillar on the left.

Thank you! For the advice. Hard to get people to practice. Should have taken a reflector. Went to several favorite spots here and it was packed on such a beautiful day. I know they are centered, but their mother doesn't like photos off centered.

The last one was the best of the bunch. It had the best use of the background. Try to avoid cars in the background whenever possible.

They arent centered though, they are off to the camera right. You honestly should have posed them bridge center where they would have been centered with the rafters. The effect would have been nicer.
