Using Exp Comp for flying birds in bright skies...Why?

Canon 7Dmkii, but i did this awhile back with the 6D and the old 7D same results except of course the 7D was a bit noisier. This is nothing really but a version of what we did way back in the film days. You could literally calibrate your cameras meter for each film and then when you shooting under those lighting conditions you just made the adjustments before pressing the shutter. Lot easier now!

Be careful or mindful Batman. Keep in mind the color or predominant color of the bird. Also be careful choosing when you change shutter speeds. It can be tough shooting a flying bird while panning with too slow of a shutter speed: okay to get blur in the wings, but tougher to get the eye or face sharp. 2 stops of shutter speed can be a huge difference depending on what's important to you - opening your aperture 2 stops can also mean the difference between blah and almost sharp. The lens you are using definitely is a factor.

Hmmm. After looking at Jacks bird photos and the OP's, I would say that Jack has a clue as to what he is talking about and doing.

I always shoot in manual and blow out the sky to capture my subject.

O.K.,not really,but,shouldn't this thread just be turned into a "how to" helpful exposure thread?
It might actually benefit people who don't understand metering light or exposure.
Just a thought.
Maybe they can ask questions here and people with more experience can actually answer newbie questions without being a bunch of Richards.
Which is what I see most of the time.

Okay... let try this once more. OP, I understand that your post had a specific post, with specific real-world examples, but why do you feel that the topic can't evolve? I think your post could lead to some very useful and educational discussion as other people raise questions, discuss their own theories or examples.... isn't that one of the fundamental purposes of a forum such as this?

I give up. YOu win Tired. How about you quit horning in on everything and start some meaningful threads of your own, as well as posting some photos? You've gotten out of control the past few weeks. Don't know your personal situation, nor really care, but you injected totally non sequiter stuff into several threads pf late. Take a vacation will you? Because I am and I hope the owners of this site take note of this situation and help you! I'm outa here!
