UV filters

does anyone use UV filters?

I'm going to be getting a nikon d50, do i need filters for my lense?

if so, where should i get them and what kind are good?

I use a UV filter on every lense, basically as scratch protection. $30-$40 for a new filter vs $X for a new lense is easy maths.

You can buy them from any camera store, you just need to make sure you get the right size for your lense.

UV filters don't really do anything, they are just for protection, and well worth it. I ended up buying a Hoya off ebay for $15 with shipping.

I keep a UV skylight on every lense, much better to replace a £4 filter than a whole new lense :thumbup:
