Vexxed between a Canon EOS 1D X and a Nikon D4

I am new to DSLR's , and so far I've been disappointed with the Nikon's I've had; first the D5100, and now the D7000. Also if somebody could recommend a respectable place to purchase my equipment from; in the past I used Ryther Camera out of NJ and I don't believe I got the equipment as described in the purchase agreement.

D5100: Soccer mom's camera. D7000: Enthusiast's camera.

D3s: Profesional low-light full-frame medium-resolution camera built for SPEED
D3x: professional full-frame high-rez camera
D800: Ultra-high-resolution semi-pro full-frame camera
D600: consumer built, entry full-frame.
D4: The D3s replacement, built for SPEED, in both shooting, and in speed of transferring not-too-big,not-too-small files from cards to computers, and across "the wire" when you "transmit" your selects back to the desk.

You've been disappointed by an entry-level Nikon with a pentamirror, and a sub-$1,000 enthusiast's camera. Thirty-five to fifty-five years ago, both would have been labelled "Nikkormat", not NIKON. Those models are from the kid's menu. No wonder you've been disappointed. Did you get a crayon pack and a worksheet with either camera? A balloon?

I'm...the one who took that photo so...um...

I have no idea where you got the idea that I dislike Nikon...

I was just being sarcastic because I had a chance to handle two D4's when I assisted a Sports Illustrated photographer during a college football game

Stick with the D7000 for now and spend your money on attending workshops.

If you can afford the bills to buy either of these systems then what you need is experience.

Once you have the experience then you'll also have your answer.

Just a guess, but he probably doesn't have $13,000 just lying around waiting to be spent. Especially if he has a wife who goes through the Spanish Inquisition on every new large photography purchase.

The only people who should "need" a 1D X or D4 are the ones shooting sports and wildlife. And even then, I never heard anyone complain about 5D III when shooting either.

I've been a Nikon owner since 1982. I was a Nikon Advanced Systems Specialist back in the early 1990's. My comment is rooted in truth: Nikon has NEVER made really good low-end cameras. Nikon has long catered to the advanced, serious shooter, and the professional-level shooter. Some of the absolute WORST 35mm SLR cameras have been made by Nikon for the beginner-level crowd. The Nikon EM. The Nikon N2000. The God-awful Nikon N4004. The atrociously horrific Nikon N75. Oh-My-Gawd...those, and other low-rent models have been absolute crap, when compared against the kinds of cameras Nikon has long been known for. Nikon makes GREAT pro-level cameras...buuuut in many cases, their lowest-echelon cameras, since the mid 1970's, have been very limited in features, and just,well...very "low rent". If a guy wants a cheap camera...get a Pentax.

if one day i can afford to buy a d4 with all the N and G lenses of this world., even if its to shoot snails., i will, even if you tell me that i dont need a d4 if i dont shoot sports. when you have the money, buying whatever the **** you want to do whatever you want is the last problem of everyone. if you have 20k to spend on camera gear, GET IT and dont ask a bunch of broke ass internet dudes.
