if one day i can afford to buy a d4 with all the N and G lenses of this world., even if its to shoot snails., i will, even if you tell me that i dont need a d4 if i dont shoot sports. when you have the money, buying whatever the **** you want to do whatever you want is the last problem of everyone. if you have 20k to spend on camera gear, GET IT and dont ask a bunch of broke ass internet dudes.

well, another issue is that for some types of shooting a D800 is actually probably a better camera.

And also, sure, if you have the money, sure, buy it. But OP would probably be better off allocating a lot of that money to better glass and a D800, given the things he says he wants to shoot. A $3000 D800 and $17,000 in glass/lights could build a better system than a $6000 D4 and $14000 in glass and lights, for what OP said he wants to shoot.
